And off we go again...
Jan. 6th, 2014 01:52 pmFirst day back at work after the break and it was a CPD day so there was no teaching going on. Instead there was the joy of endless developmental seminars for teaching staff. Of which I am not one, so I get to skip out on that particular joy. I do my annual mandatory training and that's the lot, I have NO interest in the rest of it.
I still kinda' feel like butts though so I did my contracted 2 hours and came home again. It's not like I had a whole lot to actually DO, though I'm sure I shall lament the lack of overtime at the end of next month. But to be fair I was in a derpy, brain-dead kind of condition anyway, I figured it was better to say bugger it and come home than to do something amazingly stupid and end up maiming myself in some sort of horrible chemical incident.
Ended up leaving the same time as V, who has also had the lurg of doom over the break. So I know at least it wasn't just me skipping out on the delights of the ceremonial taking of the portfolios to the seminar room.
In fandom news:
Sherlock last night. I have... a number of emotions going on at once. I am sooo loving having it back on my screen, even if it's only for 2 and a half weeks. It makes me happy in my nerd palace. But I will admit that in part I do slightly miss the previous formula of small domestic events around a larger mystery plot. It seems to have been somewhat... inverted this year.
As a result it has a very different feel this season, though I suppose they couldn't maintain the previous method indefinitely either without it growing painfully stale. But it has been a bit of an adjustment seeing the formula flipped completely, winding numerous small mysteries around a larger domestic plot instead. I am enjoying a LOT of the small moments though, even if I am highly suspicious of how much fanfic the writing team have been reading. But I will admit it feels more segmented than previous years... like it's ripping my angsty guts out in small, bloodied chunks rather than one swift evisceration. But still, there's always episode three for that.
Non-fandom related, I am tired and want to go take a nap, but I'm meant to be waiting for JR's hippie guru woman to drop her computer off for him to fix and as no one else is home to answer the door these two things are a tiny bit mutually exclusive.
