It's not all doom and gloom
Aug. 17th, 2004 12:46 pmI come bearing good news. The grandad is fine, he's just got a nastily pulled muscle. The optician visit kicked ass and Mr Ryatt is a very nice lil' Indian guy who (after thirteen LONG years) finally told me today I no longer need my glasses! *whoots!*
Apparently my eyes have been slowly improving for the past 4 years or so and they finally just peeked through the barrier where it's good enough to dispense with them if I so desire.
I only wore them for reading and PC work as-and-when-I-remembered anyway, but to be told officially that that's ok now is kickass good, and also the news I've been waiting to hear since I was 8 ;)
(Both parents were long sighted, y'see, and with a 70% chance of having to wear glasses full-time because of that, my mother has ben dragging me to the optician since I was 2. They gave me glasses at 8 to try and train my eyeballs into not needing glasses at all, and finally they got there. Yes, a mere 13 years later...)
Still have the specs by the PC for those long stints when your eyes get tired, but optherwise, I'm free and easy, baby! :D
On the less good side, I told my granny and she was also pleased for me... and then went and spoiled it in her classical way by saying it was nice because now I'd look less school-ma'am-ish because young ladies look better without them and that now all I had to do was lose some weight and I'd be quite pretty.
Thank you, oh great ego-smasher extraordinaire. (Though I have no clue where she got the school ma'am bit from though, she's not seen me in my glasses for 2-3 years now because I only use them when I'm reading... O_o)
But that aside... hmm, gonna' go scrounge for dinner I think. I'm feeling stir-fry-ish...
