A paperback anti-hero
Nov. 22nd, 2003 02:00 pmWow, I had a genuine sitcom moment here this morning. The boywonder and I headed into town to do a spot more christmas shopping (It never ends...) and picked up my re-prints from Boots (who charge more for 3-day reprints than they do for 1-hour full processing, the bastards...). He had to go to the bank to pay something in and, being a remarkably public spirited bank, they were playing the rugby cup final on the TV screens they usually display the exchange rate and stock-ticker on.
The boywonder's all like "NO! Don't tell me ANYTHING! I'm recording it so I can watch uninterrupted when I get home. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING!"
He's going round town like this the whole time we're in town... avoiding radios, distracting himself when people start talking about the result, managing to totally evade any of the scores...
Till we get home when mum opens the door with "So we won then..."
-insert Boywonder scream of desperate frustration-
heheheheheh...
He's watchig the tape downstairs anyway, but suffice to say he's in a veeery cranky mood.
Not that he couldn't have guessed or anything judgng by the number of people wandering round town, in the rain, proudly displaying their England shirts...
So anyway, I finally got to se inside the new Woolies building in the Rushes.
It's...
*sigh*
It's like Target, only smaller.
There's not a lot you can say to that, really.
Picked up 3 advent calendars for the price of 2 though (Because you hit 20 and people just assume you don't want one any more so you have to buy your own -hard done by sniff-) so it worked out quite well for our soon-to-be visiting Kat cause the boywonder wanted one too hers came free.
Got Eek's christmas pressie and some of the Thornton's diabetic chocolates for
deke because according to something she read they're Atkins-friendly.
It's a sampler bag, Dekie. If you like them and want more I can go back and get a larger box because they sell diabetic stuff pretty much all year round.
They also had a special offer on champagne truffles too so... Got some of them for me. :D
Now I have to go tax my car... whoop de doo... and pick up a bunch of miscelaneous items from Safeways.
So though I've not been to Leicester I have still gotten planety wet.
But at least my comics are still nice and dry in Magic Lab... cause it's never good to carry un-bagged comics in the rain.
Might go in tomorrow if it's dried up a bit.
Oh, and here's another random thought... is it bad to keep buying books for people just because the guy who works in the bookstore is nice and likes X-Men and talks to you now and then and stuff...? ;p
*is pathetic*

I wanted it to be for Christmas but I didn't have the time to wrap everything so.... just open it when it gets there. Besides, you can't really surprise someone with the customs tag on the outside of the box, can you?

Date: 2003-11-23 01:33 am (UTC)As to surprising people with customs tags, I usually send my mum to pick things up from the post office because no one's ever at home to accept deliveries. I can get her remove customs form like she did on... well... virtually everything that came through last christmas. See that way I still get the elemnt of surprise. :P~
It's a cunning plan...

Date: 2003-11-22 08:28 am (UTC)see? that's what I never understood... if I don't have to worry about who's going to win I can enjoy it way more... *shrug* or maybe that's just me *lol*
Because you hit 20 and people just assume you don't want one any more so you have to buy your own -hard done by sniff-)
my mum stopped doing one for me when I turned 16... it's *SO* not fair *whine*

Date: 2003-11-22 08:34 am (UTC)*nods* So would mine, but I got very god at wringing them out of her. Last year though, I had to get my own... At least this year I was prepared and bought a nice one with Lindt choccie in instead. ;)

umm. I'd say no. But then again, I'm the one who ended up with three X-men trade paperbacks(i think), two neil gaiman books, and a couple other books for that same reason.
*is more pathetic, cause he never called.*
