A sudden, hot splash of gravy
Nov. 15th, 2003 10:32 amWaiting for the maternal unit to get back so I can hitch a lift to the station. Might see if she wants to come with, actually. She likes the train ride so I figure I can humour her. That and she's not shopping this Saturday at the market because the fair's in town, and apparently she'd rather gouge her own eyeballs out with a spork than battle through the chaos. Not that I blame her, they tend to shift the market into one of the car parks instead and its a little squashy.
So yeah, gonna' go pick up comics and then...
OK, well some weirdness happened the other day.
Mother and JR have had to resort to searching ebay to find things to give me at christmas, because apparently they didn't know what on earth I wanted. But they were capable of hunting down words like Hugh Jackman and Wolverine, so yey for them!
BUT, on the searchings, the maternal unit discovered the NT performance of Oklahoma.
She asked me if I already had it and I said yes indeed, because I have 2 different copies of it (I did have 4 but I gave 2 away), and not only was she exceedingly surprised (even though I remember telling her about it a couple of times before) but also has been dropping hints this past few days that she'd really like to see it.
Insert LT looking surprised here, for I was aware of the grandmother's love of musical movies, but NOT the maternal unit's.
So this afternoon may be spent shuffling through Oklahoma because apparently the mother is revealing her previously unknow love of Rogers and Hammerstein.
You must understand though that this is, in fact, a good thing. Because both the Johns seem to dislike Oklahoma, so viewing it was relegated to snatched moments when no one else was home just to save on the complaining. Kinda' like most everything else, really. The boywonder's less bad but JR doesn't understand the concept of watching a movie more than once, so if he's seen it he'll complain when he has to see it again.
JR had a braindead moment the other day too, while we're on the subject.
JR: I didn't know Wolverine was in Swordfish.
Me: Uhh... yeah.
JR: I don't remember that.
Me: So... every time you've come in and seen me watching Swordfish and have moaned "Oh God, not HIM again" didn't like... tip you off or anything...?
JR: *pauses*... *thinks*... *scrunches up brow as he trawls the sludge at the bottom of his memory* - Oh.
*facepalm*
Anyway... stuff to do... and I think Mother's back.
