Ah, anyway...
So, we saw BFO yesterday afternoon and, well...
*insert fangirly squeal here*
OK, I gotta' say I went into this with absolutely NO concept of who Peter Allen was, and I'm not totally convinced that this was a hinderance. The music was fun and bouncy, the story was... kinda' minimal, but gosh darnit there was a whole buttload of Hugh.
There was angst (Of the I-can-make-women-melt-by-crying-onstage vriety), there was some really damn hot crap (boys groping can never be a bad thing, especially when they're groping Hugh) and many a costume change indeeeeeed...
OK, I may have trouble remembering specific songs here, mostly because they were all new ones to me, but anyway...
OK, the first half was, perhaps, a little bit slow, but there was definitely enough there to make it work. Enough humour and enough poingy music to keep it bouyant. Judy Garland ROCKED the house. Everyone loved her performance and, thouh Liza got a whole lot better as the play went on, she started out just a little bit "alarmed ferret" for my taste. Kinda squirrely and nervy, a trait she carried on with till her own musical number, which I will also admit was cool.
Peter's mum... awww, bless... she was a cool mum...
The boyfriend kissing scene that made so much news before the play came out was actually a little bit of a non-event, especially in comparison to other parts of the show. You could kinda' see that Hugh and Jarod missed the mouth a bit. Like if we smoosh together quite close, no one on the back row will notice.
BUT, having said that, there was a scene a fair bit before that where there was some distinct groping happening. And I mean... realy tingly good... *shudders and melts at the memory*
You all remember the Orgasm!face from Swordfish, right...? Kinda' that face but while getting felt up by a guy in a sparkly shirt. And by gettnig felt up I mean some guy getting a good lingering feel of chest while everyone hetrosexual woman in the audience is going "damn, I wanna' be the groping guy..."
Ah, after that my brain was pretty much goo so I'm a little blurry on what came next... ;p
BUT, the goo was reawakened when the crying started. Oh, the angst, my GOD, the angst. I have never been so grateful for having binoculars even while sitting in a really good seat because you could see the exact moment that first tear escaped, and then you could track is all the way down.

Oh man you just wanted to get up there and snoogle...
What else. Hmm...
I had a bunch of stuff to say last night, most of it raving and glowy good (It's the post-Hugh glow, it does things to a gal) but I'm feeling a little spacey this morning so I can't remember half the stuff I was going to tell you. XD
We DID go to the stage door after the show, but like I'm sure most folks know already you gotta' be there like an hour before the freaking show ends to get close to the front in the hopes of getting an autograph. But we did get some Hughy glimpses (he looked good, and yes he was wearing the freaking hat again) and we have plans to make it back there another night cause I really do want to get an autograph.
Oh, and for those who want to know without getting spoiled, we all agree that while Hugh looked a little on the skinny side to start with, you can all rest assured that when he took his shirt off he was lookin' daaaaaamn fine. And he has realy nice legs... and chest, and stomach and you know, everything in general...
Eek and I are going back another couple of times so you can expect to hear more about this at a later date. But right now I gotta' skip out and run along sightseeing with the others. ;)
