Oct. 9th, 2003 04:08 pmTook a run into town with the boywonder cause he had to buy jeans and stuff. Mostly because he looks thoroughly unpresentable at the moment and darnit, I'm not taking him to NYC looking like he just slithered out the back of a coal truck.
Anyway, he got new jeans and I discovered that one of the bookstores in town had somehow gotten hold of a couple of boxes of old comics. It was mostly DC stuff and some 2000AD but I did find an issue of Marvel Fanfare in reasonable condition that had Wolvie romping around in his swim shorts... for all of 50p. (Issue 33 for those who care to know).
Also picked up some long black gloves for halloween. It's meant to go as part of my annual witch-fest but if all else fails I can look terrified and pretend I'm Rogue, so it's kind of dual-purpose. ;)
I was just amused that the bookstore guy wrapped my comic in an unmarked brown paper bag.
It's standard store-issue but strangely it tickled me. Like buying porn, the comic geek must not be subjected to knowing stares on the street. I'm like... hello... wearing an X-Men T-shirt here... not caring a lot whether my inner geek is showing...
XD
Oh, and in other news, JR's christmas pressie arrived from America. I'm feeling smug cause he's been after a Rubik's Magic for freaking ages and keeps getting outbid on eBay. I got him one first try for waay the hell less than he was bidding.
Serves him right for only using eBay UK.

Date: 2003-10-09 12:57 pm (UTC)The boywonder wanted to be a Sweeny-Todd-esque psychopathic butcher, so he's been stocking up on fake plastic cleavers and such and we have to blood (paint) splatter him an apron. He's been growing his face-fluff out so he can make pointy ends on his 'tache too... *laughs*
As for you... I think Deke's going as Silent Bob, have you asked her if she needs a Jay...? :P~
*shrugs* I dunno, I'm like the worst costume person ever...
