Comics, movies and Halle-bashing
Sep. 30th, 2003 11:41 pmGoldeneye's on TV. I'd forgotten it had both Famke and Alan in it. It's like the Pre-X-Men. And it's still, in my opinion, Brosnan's best Bond film.
On a seperate note...
Oh my God... I'm not sure whether I'm disturbed by this or just mildly horrified.
Berry's leather cat suit for the 2004 film is "very bare, very urban, very downtown," she says.
Uh huh... And there was me thinking Catwoman was very white, very trashy, very large-breasted. *shrugs*
(Though that costume does make me very glad that they decided against moviefying Wolvie's pointy mask. She looks like a complete arse. Really though, a budget of over $100 million and they can't make a better one than that? Even Pfeiffer had a better mask, and that was all the way back in '92.)
What I want to know, is whatever happened to her "don't want to do any more comic book movies" speil. Or was that just limited to comic book movies where she's not the STAR?
My dislike for the woman is still full-fledged, I'm afraid. And probably not likely to go away any time soon. She keeps coming across as so egotistical to me. Maybe I'm just biased but *shrug* there y'go.
"Catwoman" is a feature film based on characters created by DC Comics. In this new adventure Patience Price, a mild mannered graphic artist, is murdered in order to keep her silent about an accidental discovery she made. An ancient myth in played out, when an Egyptian Mao cat, indebted to Patience for saving her it's own life, breathes life back into the young woman. Patience is reborn with an independent attitude, carefree behavior and the heightened senses of a cat. Now she must investigate the circumstances behind her murder and learn to accept both parts of herself.
So I guess it's like an alternaverse Catwoman then...?
I have the sinking feeling Charlie's never going to quit complaining about this. Catwoman fan since Jim Bellant, and she's been in a wicked mood about this since they were throwing around Ashley Judd for the role...

Halle: Fight evil! Wear open toed sandals!
Wolvermuse: *groans and shakes head*

Date: 2003-09-30 03:52 pm (UTC)I'd like to add my vote in at horrified, disturbed coming in a very close second. And I too really very much don't like Halle Berry. And in X2? She had stupid hair.

Date: 2003-10-01 12:05 am (UTC)A friend of mine works in costume design, she's a lecturer at a university on the subject and she spent 20 minutes yesterday being appauled at me over YM because she discovered the designer for Catwoman was the same as the designer for Queen of the Damned and Moulin Rouge.
Really, she spent half that time screaming "Open toed shoes...? He should know BETTER!"

I actually quite like the pants but those ears??? *shudder* where did she get them from? Disneyworld? :-/

Buffy can...
Buffy doesn't count, she has her own unique application of the laws of physics.
Halle, on the other hand, doesn't.

Date: 2003-10-01 11:07 am (UTC)Oscar-winner doesn't neccesarily make you the star of the movie.
From what I read at the time though, I don't think she wants to come back for an X3. Partly because her role wasn't big enough but also because she fell out with Bryan. Hopefully Catwoman will take her away from us all to a place we can all happily ignore.
It's a shame really, because Storm has the potential to be an interesting character even if it is only a small part. She just isn't.
I liked your l/r fluff fic btw :)
Thanks ;) *shamelessly addicted to foof*
