On the subject of critical theatre
Sep. 18th, 2003 08:48 amReviews for the first previews of BFO seem to be coming in at strange polar spectrums. Either adored or derrided. But hey, it's the previews. They're still editing things out, shuffling things around, it's still in transition and you can't expect perfection.
OK that and some of the Broadway messageboards are populated by people with heads firmly planted into rectums...
However to the anxious among the crowd and those terrified of critical failure killing the show, just reember the Queen musical We Will Rock You.
Derrided by critics to the extent that failure was expected by pretty much everyone, and yet when the public finally got their heads around it, it became the most successful show running in the West End. It's sold out till some time in 2004 if memory serves me right.
So there y'go, that's my random thing of the day. And now I'm running late... *dashes off*
