The Aftermath
Sep. 2nd, 2003 05:33 pmSo... Stuff happened...
Went round to my gran's to do a little horticultural whiffling (she needed some planting and re-potting done and I wished to ease my malaise by massacaring the plantlife) and told her about work. So she offered me the housekeeping job she's been trying to fill for the past few months. Six quid an hour as opposed to my current four fifty, fewer hours, yes, but much lighter work and, let's face it, she's my gran.. she'll drive me nuts, yes, but she pays through the fucking NOSE...
Told mum, she's happy. Pointed out that I can do lots more for them too, like decorating and shopping and gardening and stuff, as well as taking my grandad out in his chair, so I can keep myself useful.
I'm not totally sure what I think yet. I'm very tempted by it cause I know they need more help than they're getting. Their current lady sits and drinks tea all morning, I don't think she's picked up a duster in weeks, so...
I've told her I'll think about it and I will. Most likely I'll do it but I'm having one of those all-at-sea moments. It's been a busy Tuesday...
So I guess... yeah, I guess I was unemployed there for all of about minus two weeks. Given as I've not actually quit previous work yet.
And granny's oddly insistent on paying my currently unpaid NI contributions. *shrugs*
Those with long memories may recall that I was previously reluctant to take on this position.
What can I say, stuff changes. People change. My total and utter freaking desperate frustration with my current position changes...
Will think it over...
