Bloody HELL... it is hot out there...

*waves hello to [livejournal.com profile] whimsicalnotion [livejournal.com profile] stir_of_echoes [livejournal.com profile] cloudsurfing and [livejournal.com profile] helenraven*

It was great meeting you all face to face (and meerting some of you completely for the first time too) and thanks for inviting me to tag along, I had a lot of fun. :D

We shopped, I found X2 movie cards in Magic Lab, we lunched (though I now remember why it is I never usually eat spaghetti in a resturant... it's damn hard to eat it neatly) and we went to see PotC.
I had to scoot on home after that but I had a sweetie of a bus driver on the way back from the Odeon. He'd only become a bus driver 6 weeks ago and was Soooooo irrationally happy to have someone to talk to who was polite to him and willing to chat (cause I was the only person on board) that it was really quite sweet. :p
(See, the other bus driver buggering off and ignoring me turned out to be a good thing)
It was also good because I really never have gotten the hang of the Leicester bus routes so he even put me out at the stop I didn't even realise I wanted. XD *is hopeless*

*whiffles bus-driver-guy on the head*

Ah, what else...
Managed to get away with minimal sunburn (a vague pinkening effect rather than my usual boiled lobster technique) and I got home in time for Chinese food for dinner. Can't complain at that.

So, without further ado...
PotC... I don't entirely know what I was expecting... I'm not certain I actually WAS expecting anything. This is almost always a good thing and never leads to disappointment.
I enjoyed it. It was endearingly silly and I think this worked well in it's favour.
Minor niggle was Young-Elizabeth saying "OK" in a highly un-historical sort of a way, but *eh* given the movie I can forgive them such a lapse.
I will admit I've never especially cared for Orlando Bloom, but he aquited himself admirably and I never once thought "elf" like I tend to whenever Agent Smith is onscreen in the Matrix movies.
Johnny Depp *heeee* [[smooshes Johnny Depp]] I gotta' say I loved Jack Sparrow. Completely mad, yet also frighteningly sane. I love how that played out, almost as much as I love the transition between zombie skeletons and real life actors as they zip in and out of the moonlight durning the battle at the end. That was nifty and the kind of use of CG we need more of in this world. (ie, the kind of CG I'd use if I made movies... which I don't, but then if I made movies there'd be a lot more Wolvie and a LOT less Storm in the X-men franchise)
*coughs* But I'm getting off topic again...

Oooooh, PotC Handpuppet Theatre!
