Picture Perfect
Aug. 6th, 2003 03:39 pmSo apparently I've lost my mind. It's 90 degrees out, only just over the hottest part of the day, and I'm wandering the area with my digicam taking snapshots for NO GOOD REASON.
I think I've lost my mind.
OK, it was hot, this apparently makes me slightly photographic. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the need to record the heat so I can remember it with distorted fondness when winter rolls around. Maybe it's just psychosis, who knows?

These are the highly unexciting woods just up the path from my house. They're mostly full of flies, nettles and things that will spike you if given half a chance. According to my granny they're also full of muggers and perverts who would do harm to poor helpless innocent 20 year old girls with a pissed-off looking Alsatian at her heels.
Uh huh... yeah... ok...

This tunnel is muddy. Always, without fail. I walked up it not an hour ago, in the middle of one of the hottest summers on record and there is STILL wet ooky mud on this path.

Even the council takes the opportunity of fine weather to cut the grass. This is part of the huge open field you get to after walking through the woods (Or round it. Kat, this is what it looks like in daylight...)

For all the suburban trappings, we're actually not too far from genuine countryside out here. Granted it's not really INTERESTING countryside, but it's there none the less.
You can't see it in this picture, but if you carry on a few inches to the left you get a lovely view of Ratcliffe Upon Soar Power Station.
Lovely. ;p

Found this view down in a far corner of the field. I thought it was kinda' pretty, being all wheat-filled and stuff.
Usually this particular field is full of Oil Seed Rape, which is hell for my allergies but it is very VERY yellow.

This used to be a shambolic little open patch of land that was used to let the dogs run around on. Then it got overgrown and a bunch of trees grew (Which, given the size of them tells you how freaking long ago that was).

Once upon a time, this wasn't quite so dead. I just through it made for an interesting photo.

Personally, I quite like bindweed, I think it's pretty. My mum hates it with a passion and I can see her point, but against the dead wood I thought it rather attractive.
I had a buncha stuff to say earlier but most of it's escaped out of my head so I'm guessing it can't have been that important.
Maybe it'll come back to me later.

Date: 2003-08-07 05:39 am (UTC)Hagan Das coffee bar in The Shires, 10 am ...ish. If that's too early let me know and we'll pick another meeting point a bit later. The movie is on at the Odeon every hour on the hour, and as far as I know we plan on going after lunch.

Date: 2003-08-07 05:43 am (UTC)I'll be the chickie with the remnants of pink Rogue-Stripes in her hair. I'm at least moderately distinctive that way. ;)
