So, I really don't like how my latest artistic endeavour is going. I fear I peaked after 2 and a half pictures... *cries* and I was doing so well too...
Knew it was too good to last. :(
OK, so it's not like it's going AWFUL or anything, it's just I'm deeply dissatisfied with how it's come together. It just ain't quite right somehow... Plus, my scaner's doing that thing again. *kicks it*
So anyway, I was doing this sketch of George Platt Lynes' photo of Bill Harris because the figure was in an interesting pose. Of course then I realised it had both hands and feet in the shot (the feet even being foreshortened as if their mere presence wasn't bad enough) and I cursed myself for a fool because I can't really draw either very well... and then after I got that resolved to some vague degree of satisfaction it dawned on me that... uh, this photo was taken in 1945.
And man, does the model's harstyle ever show it.
So, ok, I thought... I'll chage the head and kill two birds with one stone. I'll do a little head-swap operation like I was vaguely intending to do weeks ago before I even started on this mad sketching kick, and give it a Wolverhead... Then I can give it to AG to excuse myself from doing her Chen-a-like bathtub Wolvie, cause God knows that ain't gonna' happen...
And, ok, it looks alright but it's not like the big ol' WOOHOO! feeling I got when I finished the last two and it's pissing me off.
I think it needs some tinkering time. :/
Oh, and on a secondary note, I'm wonderinf if it's a fraternal thing or something, but the boywonder is, without fail, unabashed in being able to nit-pick teeeeeeny little discrepancies in anything I draw. Showed him this one earlier, before it had a head on (and while I was still quite bouyant pleased with it generally) and he's like...
*vague nod* "That toe there is wrong. That bit's too wide and that bit's too narrow."
-LT deflates, quite drastically-
I'm just like... uhh... thanks a lot, you pedantic bastard.
He shrugged again and said that I would have spotted it myself later on anyway and it would have annoyed me.
Ironically I probably wouldn't have noticed it for another few weeks, but eh, what can you do?

I know how that is. If it's any consolation I did the exact same thing, it took me ages to complete the latest effort. I even binned it at one time and started again.
