*pouts* Evil Wench!
Jul. 13th, 2003 12:02 pmJust realised I totally missed Evo this morning...
Oh well, I'm guessing CNX or FoxKids will be getting season 3 on constant repeat soon enough.
On to other things...
First off, I would like to say, that she's evil, damnit! EVIL! Not that I'm saying it was unexpected, I had a shortlist of 2 who I figured would bite the dust and I was sincerely hoping it was going to be the other one... Damnit, people always do that to the character you like the most. >.<
So, start frm the start... first five chapters I spent heartily wanting to give Harry a good hard slap. Every chapter after that I still sorta' wanted to slap Harry but would have been perfectly happy to slap Umbridge instead... peferably both of them.
(And yes, I know I'm slow but it only dawned on me last night that one can also "take umbridge" at something someone did... that totally escaped my notice. *whaps head*)
George and Fred were cool though, so that made up for the deep-seated need for slapitude.
So, back to the relevant points. Much more compelling book than GOF, as illustrated by the fact that I didn't stop reading halfway through and leave it sitting on a pile of laundry for two months. It flowed better over all, though I'm not going to forget any time soon that, damnit, she made me cry.
In my defence though, and in respect of my hardnened reputation *cough*, it got me at a hormonal moment where I will happily cry at the drop of a hat (especially if it's a nice hat, that meant a lot to someone and the dropping or loss of which leaves them with a deep and aching internal pain that... ok, shutting up about that).
To be honest, I was more hoping it would be Neville who ended up dead. He was my other candidate though I suppose that would have been too much to ask for. As anyone knows, you have to ladle on the angst good and thick and poor Neville wouldn't have given Harry something to scream at Dumbledore about.
One thing I will be interested to see in later books is how Snape's character changes. To be honest, Snape interests me more than Harry does right now. Cause they go through every book suspecting him at random intervals then always you get to the end and Dumbledore insists he trusts him and blah de blah it's never got anything to do with him really. I'm figuring it'll go one of two ways. Either he really WILL betray them come the end (which I think may be unlikely) or he does a very convincing doublecross, so it looks like he's betrayed them but in the end really ends up redeeming himself in Harry's eyes while handily resolving his grudge against Harry's father.
I just figure JK seems way too keen on throwing in continual references to Snape being suspicious to not actually use it later on.
So yeah, that's it in a nutshell, though I do have to insert one last thought:
*whines* I liiiiiked Black... he was my faaavourite..... why do they always have to kill off the ones I like beeeeeessstttttt........
*whine pout lip-quiver*
OK, I'm done
