BLECH! *pokes out tongue*
Jul. 3rd, 2003 02:45 pmThe irony of receiving spam about preventing spam is not lost on me, though I do wish they'd quit sending it. The joke's weating thin.
I would have written this a full half an hour ago, just as soon as I got home from work (Damn you, working late, you bastards) but I had to shower. I mean I NEEDED to... not just a fancy, it was a physical imperative, like breathing, or eating or making fun of Justin Timberflake.
Work was manky... manky and sweaty and humid with the rain. It feels like everything's damp and frankly it's just... eeeeeugh...
One of those mornings where everything takes forever and you just don't want to move because you're kind of sticking to yourself because everything's WET...
So I have to go pick up JR from work in a lil' while. Give me time to dry off and get some (belated) lunch and it'll be about time to leave...
But I DID post kat's package and I DID fill up the car with petrol and I DIDN'T kill anybody at work though it was sorely tempting because damnit, if Jane didn't start stripping off unused bedsheets again.
I mean really, what part of "Only strip off the beds that have been used. not the ones that haven't," is hard to understand?
And I don't care what she says, the likelyhood of someone sleeping on top if the quilts is really freaking minimal. Especially when there's only been one person in that room and they distinctly slept in one of the other beds.
*breathes deep and forces a smile* But that aside...
Oh, weird thing o' the day... there's a woman in room 3 who's American. She's here for 3 weeks doing something or other at the uni. I spoke to her briefly on Monday morning and, at the time I thought to myself... you know what? Her accent sounds an awful LOT like
deke's. Same cadences and intonation and everything.
According to Lesley she's from Boston but, damnit, she sounds like Deke. Actually the really weird thing is that she left a load of handwritten college papers on the desk and her handwriting looks an awwwwful lot like how I remember Deke's looking too.
So, Deke, there y'go... she sounds like you, she writes like you... you could have a double if it weren't for the minor fact that she's an athletic black woman...
*snickers*
Yeah, I found that strangely entertaining. I think I've been spending a little too much time on my own up at the far end of the hotel this week. @_@
As someone once said, "I think I've gone a bit peculiar to tell the truth..."
Now... need food and dry clothes and a niiiice relaxing sit down for a couple of hours.

Date: 2003-07-03 04:50 pm (UTC)Actually, if you get the chance to talk to her, ask her where she's from. Maybe she's just going to school in Boston. I certainly sound nothing like a native Bostonian. I'm very distinctly Western with a dash of all over. I have a bit of Texas twang, smidge of Yooper on occasion, very much PacNW and a hint of what I've seen called "clipped Canadian." I pretty much speak like I write, and how I write Wolvie. ;) 'Course, you knew that 'cause you've spent nearly 2 weeks with me here and there. :P
And I can explain the handwriting. I'm a slob and she probably is, too. :D
