Soooooooo...
Let's start at the very beginning *sings* that's a very good place to start.....
Yeah, so work was ok. Coulda' been worse, even if I did get a grumbling at for forgetting to check the chest of drawers on Friday. One of them bloody lads left a bunch of damp towels in there and, though I remembered to check the wardrobe, the drawers just slipped under my radar and unfortunately Klaus found them while fixing the TV. *sighs*
Though given how I was feeling on Friday I think a lot of things probably escaped under my radar.
But other than that I suppose it wasn't too bad. It's one of them ironic things, really, that it's a whole damned lot easier to keep the place looking shiny and brilliant when my boss ain't there. I think she generates most of the work herself... :/
We discovered though that a patch of the ceiling is leaking riiiight into one of the fire safety lights. This is unfortunate... because it's one of those lights that's pretty much always on and we dunno how to turn it off even though the casing's half full of water and likely to fry itself if the water level gets much higher. So that's all entertainment given that it's meant to carry on raining for pretty much the next full week.
Had a lift in to work today cause I needed to go to the bank afterwards. Typically it chose today for the heavens to open, so I squelched to the bank, sloshed my way through the relevant monetary transfers and then dripped on home.
Got there and, just after getting changed, the maternal unit decides that she needs to go to the post office. That's ok, says I, I need to go to the store while we're there, there are some bits and bobs I need.
So we go and we do and she says great... now we need to go to the OTHER post office. The main branch office, because this little sub-office doesn't deal with the 24 hour PF deliveries.
*le sigh* says, I. But ok... even though it's still pissing it down I'll wait in the car while you do what you do...
Only, about 45 seconds before we GET to the branch office the heater starts making some pretty fucking weird noises. I turn it off, cause it was disconcerting. A kind of wheezing flapping noise like something's come out of alignment somewhere.
Only... that's not all.
The lights are dead now too. The widscreen wipers are working but the lights are a no-go.
So we pull up and mum goes to kill the engine and NOTHING HAPPENS.
Really, take the keys out and the engine does NOT turn off.
Ah.
That's, ah... a little worrying to say the least.
Eventually she stalled it by whacking it into 4th and flooding the carb, but yeah... didn't want to start again after that. Didn't even want to admit it had power after that.
Ironically, the windscreen wipers are still working fine.
So she called JR and he came to poke at it, cause he only works about 10 minutes walk away from where we were. He pronounced it fucked. The fuses are alright but there's got to be a break in a circuit somewhere. Something shorted or burned out or whatever cause the ignition and lights have no power.
We woulda' left it where it was and come to tow it home after JR finished work, but there's a 1hr parking limit around the Post Office so mum's had to wait for a tow-truck to get the damn thing back here.
I left her and came home on the bus because, not only was it still pissing well raining, but I had the mother of all caffine headaches coming on. So I'm sorry to say I had to leave her to it.
*looks guilty*
Oh well, we can't always be selfless paragons of virtue all the time.
So now I'm going to dry myself off and pack up this box of stuff for KAT so I can hopefully get it out tomorrow.
