It's once again the season where my mother sucks up vast amounts of my spare time and I come home from work, just in time to start work.
Yup, it's exam season. I woke up this morning to find 114 Key Stage 2 "Paper A" Science exams sitting outside my room all ready for clerical checking. Yeeeey...

OK, so it's not that bad. I get 10% of whatever she earns, a bonus for every error in her marking that I find and she lowers her chances of clerical mistakes getting passed on higher up the chain of marking. It's also the only time my mathmatical skills get any kind of workout beyond making sure I got the right change at the store, but MAN it don't half take up a lotta' time.

I did manage to work on some fic a little yesterday. One of my really badly stalled fics got a whole new page of stuff added to it before I got myself totally stuck again, and I started trying to hammer out this Swordfish fic that's been sulking around in my head for... I dunno... damned months. It's not really all that good so I don't know if I'll ever finish it, but at least I got some of it out of my head and onto paper.

Of course now they're all stalled again and it's hard to ponder fic when adding up 114 exam totals, but never mind. At least I figured out sort of what's wrong with my CD player and kind of how to fix it.
It's limited to specific CDs, all of them either over a certain age or made by Columbia and they WILL play through the default CD player but you have to dick around with it a little first. The disks seem to spin at Data CD speed, not audio CD speed, which means the default player won't recognise them (Not that it ever used to be a problem, but whatever). You can slow down the speed by starting play through CDex.
Of course, the CD player's been doing odd things of late anyway. Skipping tracks, leaping back a track, starting right from the beginning of the CD when it was already halfway through, randomly just totally stopping... *shakes head*
I think it's not right if you want my honest opinion, but it can wait till later on to be sorted. I still got 57 papers left to do, and then another 114 of the B paper.

It's going to be a long, boring and apparently ficless day. *watches her brain slither out of her ear and land in a pile of custard yellow mush*
