Feb. 15th, 2012 07:34 pmYikes.
Had a phone call from the G-ma's church ladies this evening. They were very glad they went as a group for mutual support as the G-ma gave them a stinking earful of nastiness this afternoon. All three of them.
...and then gave another one to her Priest!
Father Phil sends his sympathies to mum for having to put up with it, apparently. O.o
Fuck a duck. You know it's bad when even the local Priest is hesitant to visit too long. Catholicism at work, folks.
And then the G-ma's social worker tells mum the G-ma only has "intermittent confusion" and she found her to be delightful. And when mum explained the G-ma's verbal abuse towards people she's familiar with the woman laughed it off with a dismissive "Oh, you should hear the awful things my husband and I say to each other when we argue! We wouldn't dream of saying them to other people... -metaphorical lol-"
Head... meet desk. You two will be getting VERY well aquainted. May I refer you back a paragraph to the bit where my God-fearing, Priestly-sucking-up-to Catholic grandmother verbally abused a member of the clergy?
Just intermittent confusion, of course...
Mum told her that unlike some people, our family were actually civil to each other.
I don't think this garnered much of a response though.
Stilll... G-ma been graded as Band 5 which is allegedly about as high as she can get before she needs constant nursing care.
Mum's got appointments to look around a couple of places tomorrow that will be able to offer full nursing and cancer care later on even if she doesn't need it now so she doesn't have to be moved when her needs change.
Social services have set their contribution but anything above that we have to find and pay for ourselves. We're hoping it's not going to be too much more on top of what she already gets. It probably will be more, because the on-budget place mum was sent to look at today at the behest of the social worker kind of smelled like wee. Plus, the woman who ran it seemed baffled that they would be suggested as they clearly didn't have the facilities the G-ma needs already, let alone in the future.
So... good going there, patronising social-services lady. Sterling work so far... *eyeroll*

See how much she likes it when she is on the fireing line.
