Watching a Countryfile feature on David Hockeny. Seriously, am I the only person achingly underwhelmed by his new line in iPad paintings? I dunno, they just seem like... MSpaint doodles. Compared to what I know graphics packages are really capable of, not to mention the incredible quality and detail achievable by even semi-experienced CG painters, I don't really get why everyone's so wowed by these. It's like all of the broad-stroke impressionistic points of his work I was never keen on to start with, but lacking the appealing depth and texture of actual paint. Sort of a lose-loose if you ask me.
