Will do battle, but only for set price
Apr. 2nd, 2003 01:30 pmE-mailed someone I've not spoken to in a while because I found a link I thought they might be interested in, and darnit if she didn't mail me back in the most astoundingly irritating, unpunctuated, teeny TXTspeak way ever.
Now I remember why I stopped writing to her so much. Because once upon a time she used to use English. Now, I'm not so sure.
Anyway, she asked me if I was still a Hugh fan, I said yes. She told me he was on the cover of Empire, I said I knew, and then in a turn for the distincly worrying she said "Hmm, not much a Wolverine fan, I prefer Magneto! Hmmmm, older men!"
*Blinks at that for a second... then the EWWWW reflex kicks in*
This girl is almost a year younger than myself and she'd rather have Magneto...
I hasten to point out that, while Ian is a really cool and funny guy and all, that's heading out of the Older Guy box and into sort of creepy. >.<
*shudders*
I'm... I'm sensing peternal issues maybe...? perhaps grandpaternal...? Fuck knows, that's just.... *eeeungh*
Mum's off to Manchester till Friday some time for a meeting thing she needs to go to. The oven has officially kicked the bucket (we need a new cooker) and today I discovered a new move had been made in the battle of wills I'm having with one of the lads at work.
He removes the mattress covers. Religiously. First thing he does every week. Takes it off and sticks it in the wardrobe.
Now at first I left it, because I don't rightly care. Then it was brought to my attention that we can't really leave the mattress coveres off because if he spills something not only will it do crapty things to the mattress that he will have to pay for, but also Liz will whinge in my direction for not making sure it was on there in the first place.
So... Every week I fish it out of the wardrobe and put it back on.
Now I don't know if he's just stupid or something, but after It's been put back on he never takes it off again. Whether he assumes it's not there and therefore isn't offended by its presence I don't know, but once he's taken it off and I've put it back on, it stays there.
*shrugs*
Only today he did a sneaky thing...
Every time he takes it off, that cover ends up in the bottom of the wardrobe. Guarenteed, that's where he puts it.
Except for today... when it was stuffed in the back of a drawer.
*raises an eyebrow*
See, he's trying to be sneaky and hide it from me now. Only it's a really effing small room, there's not a lot of places TO hide things, but he tried none the less.
Sneaky.
I'll be interested to see if it goes missing again this week, or whether he genuinely doesn't notice that it gets put back. Either way it seems weird having a battle of wills over a mattress cover...
And you know what, if he said to me "please don't put the mattress cover back on. I don't like it/it meakes me too warm at night/whatever his reasons are", I'd just let it go...
But being bloody-minded and bitter is one of the few forms of entertainment I have left at work right now, so unluckily for him, it's become my current thing-du-jour to make sure that cover stays here it's damn well supposed to.
Maybe I need to find a workplace hobby...? Then again being obsessive, irrational and vindictive is often deeply entertaining.
Not feelin too bad now, it has to be said. Spent the morning doing my Hugh grant impression (Just wandering around going fuck, fuck, fucking fuck... at random intervals. It was that kind of morning) but the mood evaporated when I finally got home and got to read Empire at last.
Mmmm... magazines... good for all greivances.
