Currently wondering where the buggering hell I'm going to get the pennies for a new monitor. The maternal is sadly in no position to assist and JR doesn't understand why the emergency spare isn't good enough to keep. (Colours... colours so out of true, minor screen distortion, oh and I did mention it's too big for the desk, right?)
I'm loathe to go to the G-ma for cash despite how often she keeps reminding me that I can, mostly because she's in one of her evil phases and having trouble with her ulcerated leg again. I know this because every time I speak to her it's so she can regail me with a story of some past misdeed perpetrated against her by someone she's decided she doesn't like today.
While she's like that it's best not to ask her for anything, because whatever it is will come back to haunt you as a tale of enormous woe and hardship caused by you not being grateful enough the next time she's feeling cranky. So for my own sanity that's out.

Dear The Universe,
Now would be a really good time for even a minor lottery win. A couple of hundred would come in very handy...

It's the weirdest distortion, I mean aside from the general colour-iffiness, the actual picture kind of... bows down at the edges. And while there's a bowing-side-to-side adjustment feature there's not an up-and-down one.
So the image in the centre of the screen is about 2mm higher than the image at the edge and I can't fix that.
All the straight lines are on a slightly bendy wonk. It's kind of weird and offputting.

Ewww... Yeah, that would totally make me cross eyed. I dont get why JR thinks thats a good alternative to y'know... a decent moniter? Actually no, i DO get it, but i'm still boggled by it. *coughpratcough*

It's more that he hasn't actually ever used this monitor, it's one he 'aquired' from somewhere and it's been sitting around ever since. So all he really cared about was the fact that it works. Which it *does*... just not well enough for anything other than an emergency spare. And he got a little huffety when he later asked me if it was all going ok now and I said yes it was working but I was going to have to replace it pretty soon because just... aaagh, it's making me blind. And he sort of got a bit defensive about it like I was saying his spare monitor is not good enough.

Which isn't what I'm saying. I'm saying it WORKS, which is a good thing, and is fine as a stop-gap. But he knows from the last time we had monitor talks that I'm really picky about my screens because I spend all day staring at it.
