[livejournal.com profile] hobbit_chan and [livejournal.com profile] gourami_tea are back from the Discworld Convention, and they brought me souvenirs! I have Discworld luggage lables and a postcard and a little envelope scribbled on by Bernard the crazy man who designs all the Discworld Stamps that says 'Sod Stamps' on it.

These things make me happy. I just have to decide which exciting luggage sticker is going to go on my thrillingly red and floral wheelie case... or indeed if they'll stick well to that sort of woven nylon covered luggage or whether they really ought to be applied to vintagey leather suitcases instead. Hmm, decisions. (Because if it's the latter I may need to actually find one (or a reasonable facsimile) and contemplate the best way to make it into an entertainingly nerdy design feature.)

I really wanted to go with them but there was no way I could afford it at the time. *sadface*

When they do the Librarians of Time and Space as one of their guilds, let me know. I will have to stop at nothing to attend!

*lol*
That may prove problematic as they didn't even announce the guilds until after all the places had already been booked up...
Not that that would stop you going as a librarian either way...

Oh! I thought you were only allowed to go as one of their proscribed guilds.

You don't have to dress up as anything at all, the guilds are there for the guild activities and to cajole people into getting involved with the stupid stuff. Gerenally people do theme themselves to the guild they've decided to join, the Guild of Igors and Igorinas spent the whole weekend listhping and soliciting people to donate bodyparts for example, but it's not *obliged* so much as it's just something people do because it's funny. In theory there's nothing to prevent you dressing as an ourangoutan and joining the Seamstresses (takes all sorts) it would just be... a bit confusing.
But then people flitter in and out of different costumes and regular clothes quite a bit anyway so far as I can tell...
