Am trying (read: 'failing') to draw something today, given as evidently I can't write for shit right now. Though seemingly I can't draw for shit either, so I don't think I'm gaining much. Then again, I did go and pick a really difficult subject, in a a stupidly hard medium, after being like 6 months out of practice. Cause aparently I'm both stoopid and masochistic.

Also, the maternal unit went shopping so we have coffee once more. Cause it was on offer she got some fairtrade blend from some far flung corner of the globe that escapes me at present and it is *monstrously* strong. Nice but, good God, small cups... no latte-sized mugs of that one unless I really want to jitter myself up the walls. Woof.

Went to [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_chan's this morning so JR could install their new wireless router. The old one was being insane and wouldn't password their connection so the cheap bastards next-door were stealing bandwidth. Only because the old router was so wonky (and badly installed in the first place) it was making installing the new one needlessly complex. (Long story, I didn't understand half of what he whiffled about. I hid in the kitchen till they were done, to be honest.) But there was cookie baking to be done as well at least, and a hobbit, a cat and an owl to keep me entertained. All in all a pleasant morning.

Oh yeah. She has an owl. His name's willow. He's a rescued barn owl who couldn't be released back into the wild.

He's kind of a dumbass truth be told. When she got him he'd been living in some guy's house and seemed to think he was actually parrot. It's taken a while for him to start displaying owl-like behaviour patterns again.

*SQUEEEEE!*

Barn owls are my favorite. He's GORGEOUS. Does he let you pet him and stuff? I assume she has to feed him pre-killed mice or something similar?

Yeah, he heats pre-killed chicks mostly.
He'll let Hobbit_chan pet him quite happily, and he'll let other people have a stroke if he's in the mood for it, but he's not keen on men.

*warm fuzzies*

She should read a book called Wesley The Owl (http://www.amazon.com/Wesley-Owl-Remarkable-Love-Story/dp/1416551778/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1279921044&sr=1-1), if she hasn't already. It's by a lady who raised a barn owl for 19 years. WONDERFUL story and very informative about the breed!
