Went to see Sarah then popped into town for a bit. Got sidetracked in HMV when I found the complete Prisoner box-set (with viewing guide book) down from £60 to £22, and given as I had £20 in HMV vouchers to blow, it effectively cost me the grand total of two whole pounds.
Also finally picked up an R2 copy of Australia. I've had it in R1 since it was released with the bonus book but as the DVD downstairs on the shiny TV isn't multi-region I haven't been able to watch it on the proper big screen.
I like the cover-art on the US release better though. And I'm still bummed they never released a special edition like they promised but, ah well.

Other than that, popped to the library, didn't find much I wanted to read, got caught in a torrential downpour that came out of nowhere and got back home somewhat soggier than anticipated.

Swimming tomorrow. Looking forward to that.
Also kind of impressed that my dye has lasted this long as well. It's still a bit purple despite being washed a bunch of times and going through a swimming pool.

YAY! for acquisition of The Prisoner (and a boxed set, no less - shiny)!

Yeah, re-mastered 7-disk box-set, with viewing guide and extra features. Ooooo.
My mother is *ludicrously* excited by this purchase, I should add.

Out of interest, did you see the recent re-working with Jim Caviezel and Sir Ian in?
Jesus and Gandalf do South Africa.
*shakes head*
Sir Ian's Number 2 was pretty much the only watchable part of it.

OMG, yes. Watched the entire mini-series from beginning to end without interruption. LOVED Sir Ian - he chewed the scenery with relish (and mustard, and ketchup...) The rest of it? *scratches head* I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. Not really sure what to think of it, to tell the truth.

*LOL* Yes.. yes he did. And I did very much enjoy his 2.

I even quite liked 11-12, but I just couldn't work up the enthusiasm to especially care about any of the other characters, and the way it ended was just... weird.
But then while I find Jim Caviezel's quite pretty to look at I don't much care for his slightly watery, passive version of 6.

Agreed. He's a capable actor (and not hard on the eyes) but as #6? Not a good choice. I did quite like the young man who played #2's son, though. He was terrific.

2's son was 11-12 and yes, I liked him, though could not quite stifle the giggle of irony at Sir Ian playing a somewhat disapproving heterosexual father of a secretly gay son.
I do hate when my inability to completely seperate actors from characters rears its head.

I think #6's problem was that in the McGoohan incarnation he was all richeous fury and unwavering determination, and in the re-make he was kind of bemused and a bit peeved but that's pretty much it. He never seemed to actually have any kind of temper.

It wasn't just you! ;-P

He never seemed to actually have any kind of temper.

Yes! There didn't seem to be any passion, or indignation, there.
