Dammit I want to see this series. Checked BBC America which says on the home page for the series "No Scheduled Shows" But tells us all the great things about how damn great it is. Now it may have been on here before considering the year of moving about the country I had last year I would have totally missed it.

This is series 3 so, possibly you've had some of it. It's one of my favourite things on TV right now. I'll be honest I never got into Life on Mars, and I'm really not old enough to appreciate the 70s nostalgia in it, but the 80s... ah, now those I remember. (Though technically they're only up to the year of my birth so to be really technical I don't remember those either. But we shan't talk about that...)

God, I really hope so - or they'll have the collected wrath of fandom come down on them worse than when Rusty killed Ianto.

I think it's YAY GENE, but to be honest it's mostly because it would feel like a massive fake-out to suddenly have him be the bad guy. It's too easy making him into the devil, and so far the show has shied away from the easy path. But if they manage to make us doubt him, then the redemption will be that much sweeter, so I sincerely hope that's what they're going for. It would fit with every single story arch they've had so far...

IMO, the entire existence of this alternate timeline world somehow hinges around Gene, I just don't know how exactly.

Oh I agree, completely. Gene is the center around which they all revolve. Maybe he needs redemption? Or they get redemption through him? Idk. It feels as if there's a spiritual thing of some kind going on as well.

I'm really looking forward to finding out how they actually tie all of that together, or whether we really will ever get any real answers about who Gene is and why both Sam and Alex wound up in his world. it made sense in LoM, cause it was all Sam's hallucination, and just a figment of his mind. but as soon as Alex got sucked into the exact same world...

And they'd better have an actual solution, since they've been going on and on about how they're actually going to come up with the answers this season! Though a part of me dreads it, because what if it's a bad solution, and the one we'd cooked up in our heads was much better? That would be so sad.
