Just had a phone interview for one of the jobs I applied for last week. The lady told me that my phone interview had gone well and I would be put forward on the short-list for consideration for an in-person interview.
Cross fingers for me, it's a full-time Mon-Fri job in a small company. Which would be great, certainly for right now. Weekends off and semi-decent income. I could re-build my savings on that.

At any rate, it's the first not-an-outright-rejection-letter I've had so far. That alone makes a nice change.

OK, back to beta'ing...

Wow, it's great companies actually got back to you even if they aren't interested. Around here businesses get so many applications that they just aren't replying to applicants in whom they aren't interested. Good luck with the company that's interested.

Eh, I get a lot of form letters that all pretty much read "Thank you for your interest in [vacancy]. Unfortunately your application has not been successful at this time."

Of course those make a nice change too, you do tend to get totally ignored quite frequently as well.

A couple of months ago I was getting bids from contractors to have my bathroom redone. One of them spent 2 hours here and then sent me a letter saying my job was "not a good fit" for his company. I couldn't figure out why I was so bummed until I realized it sounded just like all the literary agent rejection letters I've gotten.

LOL!

I'm so amused that a contractor can afford to have creative standards on bathroom fixtures...

It's a medical supply mail order company, about 12 people on staff at the moment. Nothing wildly exciting, mostly order-picking and paperwork, but even if I only stick it for a year or so it'll do good, fine things for my bank account.

It's right next door to the weatherspoons, you know in that little yard that used to have the lawn mower guy in? Down there.

Here's hoping my good luck rubs off on you. I'm starting a new job today after looking on and off since last March!!! Be careful what you wish for, though. New job focus means less Hugh job focus. Ah, the trade-offs life throws us. ;)
