Feb. 22nd, 2010 05:13 pmTaking an enormous hatchett to chapter 3. I think I'm going to wind up re-writing the better part of half of it, just to fix the fact that the first draft is all full of "This happened and then that happened, and it made someone think this and feel like that, and that made some stuff happen, and another character was sad about it."
Which, obviously, was fine in a 'get something on the page' first-draft kind of a way, but that whole "show, don't tell" mantra everyone's so fond of? Yeah, it's a whole lot of tell and very little show. Annoyingly, so are chapters 4-9...
Chapter 2 was pretty good though. Tweaked a few details, added a missing bit of dialogue but otherwise plain sailing.
I think I really need to re-watch S2 of Robin Hood though, I kind of feel like I've totally lost my handle on the character motivations that made me want to write an alternate ending in the first place. Damn Season 3...

Date: 2010-02-22 11:41 pm (UTC)Of course I'd have enjoyed S3 better if we'd had actor commentaries on the DVD. Even if it was just Gordon being sarcastic at everything...
