Just Because
Mar. 1st, 2003 03:16 pmFinished work and went straight out to do the grocery shopping cause I knew that if I sat down I'd never get back up again.
So now I sit... because my knees ache because I've been up and down stairs all sodding morning. Because Jo chose this week to be on holiday as well as Liz. Because I really need a weekend. Because I know I'm not going to get one for another 6 days yet.
And because I had to change 2 double rooms into twin rooms and that involves hunting for all the mattress covers and single duvets and wrestling king-size quilt up 3 flights of stairs... and I get to change them all back tomorrow. Wooooo!
-_-
Though I will get a massive paycheque at the end of this week. I'm guessing I'll clock up around 24 hours since Friday if the rest of this week carries on like last week did. That's like... an actual job...
At current rate that's over a hundred this week too. Thankyou, there IS a God.
Today's random thought:
Having helped out at breakfast, I see that 99% of people are miserable bastards first thing in the morning. The only exception to this is the chick who got absolutely shit-faced drunk last night and was quite possibly still drunk this morning.
She was just unnaturally chipper for a hung-over woman with a 4 year old daughter in tow.
I also remembered why I did one evening as a waitress and hated it so much I never went back. I can't get the hang of that *social interaction* thing... That and remembering orders and stuff. You know... pretty much everything about the job.
Today's other random thought:
If I see another damned advert/review for Maid in Manhatten that uses the world "lowly" in conjunction with this stupid job I am going to be forced to go on a J-lo killing rampage...
Though actually I may just do that anyway, but this is beside the point. Enough with the lowly crap already. I know I've already covered this topic before in referance to bad fic hotels and I feel like I'm getting needlessly bent out of shape about it honestly, but considering I've actually stuck with one job for longer than a month I'm figuring it can't possibly be that bad. It's just irksome that when you have to tell people what you do they look at you like "Oh you poor thing... That's nearly as bad as being a public toilet attendant really..." *rolls eyes*
I'm considering describing myself as a deputy undermanager or something in situations like that, cause seeing as the hotel manageress does all the laundry and hoovering, it's not THAT innacurate ;p

Date: 2003-03-01 07:47 am (UTC)Bah! Some people are too far up their own backsides to realise just how Narcissistic they are!
Which reminds of the lightbulb joke!
How many narcissists does it take to change a light bulb?
(a) Just one -- but he has to wait for the whole world to revolve around him.
(b) None at all -- he hires menials for work that's beneath him.
People like that really piss me off!

Date: 2003-03-01 08:01 am (UTC)My personal favourite is still
How many Virgos does it take to change a lightbulb?
One to clean out the socket, one to dust the bulb, one to install and two qualified engineers to check the work.

Bwahahaha! I've never actually heard that one, but it sounds strangely accurate.
One of my favourites is
How many Tory MP's does it take to change a light bulb?
Two, one to screw it in and the other to hang himself accidentally from the flex performing a perverse sexual act involving womens underwear.
