*dum duggu dum duggu dum du-du-du-dooo*
Feb. 23rd, 2003 10:11 amIt's Sunday morning, it's 10 O'clock, it's time for Top of the Pops!...
No, wait... that's not right...
It's time for LT to slouch around the house because no one else is awake yet, and she knows darned well that as soon as mum drags herself out of bed she'll be booted out of the study so mummy dearest can get back to her important marking type stuff.
Yeah, that's it.
God I'm bored...
I was thinking last night after I got offline that the worst thing about not having my machine right now is that I can't write, cause all my files are locked up on JR's PC and I can't access them from down here. Then I figured, well, OK, I can still write on paper, right...? Well, yeah... but then you get the paper and all motivation suddenly seems to leave.
Then again, I have that happen to me every time I try and work on anything right now anyway, be it on paper or PC. The spirit is willing but the brain is week. I feel like I WANT to write, I just can't.
Again.
I was going to work some more on that story for KAT but obviously that's a no-go right now...
For one I can't access the file and for two I'm not writing kinky sex in a place where people keep poking their head round the door to see what I'm up to.
It's bad enough when the boy wonder decides he's bored and whatever I'm doing has to be more interesting than sitting in his room. The icy stares and noncommital grunting replies don't seem to act as a sign that I'm busy any more.
Today's random observation:
Netscrape Communicator 4.7 is a reasonable if not especially good browser. More and more it fails to read certain parts of code. It's old, it's outdated but on the most part you can still make it work.
Nescrape 6.2 is much updated. It doesn't suffer so much from the strange non-reading of code. It's nowhere near as ancient and clunky...
But damn me if it isn't the most annoying piece of crap softwear ever.
Takes forever to load, does weird, weird things sometimes, and most annoyingly of all, I've located the PAINFULLY SLOW CURSOR on this PC to be a problem found ONLY when typing e-mails or LJ entries or forum posts that go past about 10 lines long.
For those first 10 lines it's all ok and fan-dabbie-dozie, then get past that and it gets slower... and slower...
and slower...
and... slower...
So yeah, Netscrape 6.2 is officially even more annoying than Netscrape 4.7 even though it doesn't go insane every time you try and view something containg complicated code.
Thus endeth the lesson. And God, will I be glad to get a working copy of IE on my new machine.
