Grech - Open Heart Zoo
Feb. 15th, 2003 05:32 pmI'm torn about this album y'know. In fact I'm still as torn now as I was when I first heard it. Because I can't decide if I like it or not.
It's excellent for the right mood, especially tracks 2 and 3, but if it's not the right mood it's the kind of music that just makes you want to scoop your brains out with a spork.
The kind of plodding, ceaceless sound that just makes you want to scream "get on with it already!" but that in just special circumstances is exactly what you need for that right moment in time.
I'll tell you what though, parts of it remind me a lot of the soundtrack music from Swordfish, then it goes into their weird side-bars of almost incomprehensible singing that, which theoretically in English, sound more like Adiamus (that music on the banking ad with the pearl-diving boy swimming around.)
In other words, it's strange and kinda' trippy in places but unreasonably long and annoying in others.
I'll classify it as ambivolent and reserve it only for fic mood music that requires weird atmospheric crap... or in the case of track 3, sex and violence (or mabe violent sex) as stated the last time I waffled about this album.
