Been a busy morning already it seems. Went to the bank, opened a new account so I can get a chequebook. Mum opened a joint account with me as well because she felt the insane need to do so (Something about instantly accessable funds should she die in a freak accident. Either she knows something she ain't telling or she's being paranoid again) and then got my old traveler's cheques converted into actually useable currency. I now have a whacking great stack of bills on top of my VCR and no matter how hard I try I just can't get used to all the different denominations being all the same size AND colour. :p

I like my fives small and blue, my tens larger and orange, my twenties nicely purple and my fifties huge and reassuringly red.
Oh, which in a roundabout way reminds me, if anyone out there has any British currency kicking around from previous trips, note that the ten pound notes with Dickens on are going out of circulation and will no longer be valid. If you want to spend them in the future you'll have to take them to a bank here to get them exchanged.
Alternatively you can paste them to your wall and use them as some kind of decorative artwork because they'll be pretty damn useless otherwise. . :D

Man, it's humid again today.
So, the parental units are leaving for a trip to the Northeast tomorrow morning.
Oh, says I to the mother, when will you be back?
Thursday, she replied.
I believe I choked slightly.
So nice of you to tell me this before hand, I remarked.
I did, she exclaims. At least I think I did... didn't I?
Uhhh... if you did, I don't remember, says I.
Oh. She looks thoughtful. Well there's lots of food in the freezer and you have money if you need to go to the store. And I expect granny will phone every 20 minutes offering to feed you, so if worst comes to worst you can go and live with her instead.

And so that was that. She's also used up all my damn petrol cause her car's broke (yet again). *wails* When you use the fricking car, fill up the fricking tank, damn you!

Anyway, house is mine till Thursday evening, meaning I actually have to answer the phone this week instead of leaving it for the machine to deal with. I also have to walk the dog cause I know the boywonder won't remember to.

In other news, there is no other news. I'm sitting here sweating cause bugger me it's hot in this house. It's quite pleasant outside it's just like a furnace in here. Hopefully the boywonder will remember he's supposed to be going to see a movie with me tomorrow, and so long as Lesley doesn't phone then I'm going to go see Rachie on Monday.
So my weekend isn't shaping up as productively as maybe I would have wanted but, you know, I do have to go and do something resembling having a social life every now and then. :p

There's a thing about zebra plants... you buy one, you end up with a hundred. I just repotted a big bowlfull of them that, in the space of a year, went from 4 widely spaced little plants to being a gigantic great ball of spikey green, so large it totaly ran out of soil in the pot. It was just green and root and a vague handful of black dust that used to be compost...

So, I ask again, anyone want a zebra plant? I have 7 pots full currently, about 5 plants in each, they'll tripple by the new year, and that's after rooting out and chucking the weedy ones :D

I think they're on a secret mission to take over the world. Or my windowsill anyway.
