Jan. 28th, 2003 08:49 pmBack and God damnit, I need to SLEEP!
4 out of the last 30 is not a good sleep/waking ratio, and sadly it's not due to excess revelry either, I just can't sleep in Hotel beds.
Ah, so... things I did, things I learned and other assorted stuff.
Things I did... visited the Black and White house, drank brewery-fresh Strongbow at the Volly, saw the Mappa Mundi and the largest chained library in the UK, saw the Cider museum and took a bunch of snapshots that I'll deal with when I've had the sleep I was just complaining about not getting.
Things I learned... Hereford is very windy. If you have long hair make sure it's fastened very securely to your head because otherwise it'll take off. Hereford is also very wet.
Cider is much MUCH kinder to you when it's brewery fresh as opposed to merely regular pub fresh and not-at-all supermarket fresh. It tastes better, it disagrees with you less and you can drink over twice the volume you'd normally ever consume before you start to feel even vaguely giggly.
It's very very funny wandering the streets of Hereford when you're already drunk by 7:30pm.
The Chained Library in hereford Cathederal is so astoundingly like the forbidden section in the library at Hogwarts it's actually very amusing.
The Mappa Mundi has Europe and Africa mislabled as each other, which was a snafoo even back in those days.
Throw a rock in Hereford and you hit something apparently of historic interest... or a touring Russian brass band, one of the two.
Other things... I have photos... I can't be fooked to upload them right now. Sorry, you'll all have to wait.
I met a bunch of John's old tutors. One of them looks like Peter Capaldi.
I had a bunh of other things I was going to say but I've forgotten them...
