I'm writing this in advance cause I know that by the time I get round to granny's I will have forgotten all the things I wanted to say.
Ergo, I'm writing this now (last night) on MY computer and then dragging it to granny's to post it tomorrow (today).
Wow, I'm like an addict suffering withdrawl... XD
Twitchy, tense, unsettled... bored out of my fucking MIND. Yes, I truly am utterly pathetic. And typically it falls right in the middle of a spate of downtime at work so I don't even have mindless repetative tasks to take my mind off things.
I'm thinking that if things don't buck up tomorrow I'm going to have very little choice but to take the camera out for a walk and find something sceneic to take pictures of. Hopefully we'll get another of those frosts in the next 24 hours... or maybe some snow, that would be nice. Then I can do something artsy and pointless...

Ooh, ooh, this is funny... Just went on the hunt for a book I misplaced about a year and a half ago (found it in the drawer under the bed BTW, along with half a dozen rolled posters and a set of recipie cards, but this is beside the point)
Anyway, it is what I like to consider the dumbest book ever produced and this is why I was trying to find it. I wnated to show it to mum for a bit of a laugh cause it's the kind of thing I know she'd find amusing. It's a Mills and Boon anthology (says it all really) but it's an anthology about the wild west titled, amusingly enough, "Marry Me, Cowboy".
The cover features some guy who looks like a cross between Kurt Russle and Jon Bon Jovi, pretending to play a guitar, but the best part is something I hadn't quite appreciated before.
Mostly because I've only read it once and was laughing too hard most of the way through to really care, but it finally came to my attention that the lead characters in the first story seem to be leading double lives.
I shit ye not...
"Riding High" by Janet Dailey -
Deke is a cool-headed, long-legged stunt horse-rider who's about to take the hardest fall of his life - for Victoria, an actress of the sort he's always loved to hate...

*coughs*
Deke, is there something going on between you and Vic you've neglected to tell everyone...? :D
*ducks flying anvils*

Sorry, apparently lack of net access at home has led me to become very easily amused... XD

*flips through book* Oh I remember some of this now... the first story sucked, the second one was boring as hell, the third one wasn't too bad and the fourth one was just plain amusing... though if I remember rightly it was my considered opinion that while the idea was ok, the execution was lousy...
(It's a fish-out-of-water, time-displacement romance, like K&L but with cowboys... and not as good)

And I really have to fomd something more interesting to do, for God's sake I'm sitting here talking about Mills & Boon cowboy romances.
*stabs brain out with a teaspoon*

It's official. I have no life.

I'm also really amazed that things this badly written keep making it into print.
I'm not sure whether it leaves me utterly disillusioned about the literary world, or brimming with confidence that at least the stuff I write it better than this...
It really is dire.

[rolls eyes] I expected better from you, LT. You know I'm not a man. You've even met me in real life!

...though, people have that problem fafe-to-face all the time, si I can't fault you TOO much. [sigh]

And as for Victoria, I don't even know her, man! I'm innocent!

...well, at least I don't know her...

Yeah yeah ;) I see you over there with your big ol' stunt-ridin' horse...

Actually the most amusing thing about all of it was that the story was set in Colorado XD
Read about half a page before I had to stop to let the giggling subside... ;p

There are only three settings for a "Western": Montana, Wyoming or Colorado. And Colorado is the usual choice, since it's "picturesque." :)

I can imagine where that would incite lots of giggles on your part, though. See you need to come West and we'll find you a strapping young cowboy...

...preferrably not named Deke. ;)

Yeah, cause that would be just... weird...

Thing that amuses me the most though, is that every single damned one of 'em in that book has thick tufty black hair. I'm like, hang on a sec... give him sideburns and a feral mutant temper and I could write this crap... XD
