Tapping into the random information respository that is my flist... does anyone know how to make and tie a cravat?
I've only ever seen them -already-tied- so I have no idea what shape one is when it's laid out flat, or therefore, how to knot it correctly. It is like a regular tie but a different shape, or is it a whole other creature entirely?

Okay, you are just getting more and more mysterious by the day! And no, I have no idea how to make or tie a cravat.

Why, as a matter of fact I *do* know. That site was pretty informatory (is that a word?) all the way around. As you can see, a cravat is about 6 inches wide at either end, roughly ohhhh ... 24 - 36 inches long, and usually pleated and stitched to a width of no more then about 1 and a half inches in the center, so it can lay flat against the back of the neck. The ends of the thing can be mitered off as well. The tying options there are all good, but the first one is the only real cravat tying method. They also don't have to be secured with a pin if you say, stick the ends inside your open button front shirt like Rock Hudson in a 1950's Doris Day movie ;).
