And I love it, when you have nowhere to be and nowhere especially to go and no great pressure to do anything, walking home in the rain without a coat and getting very thoroughly wet. Then climbing into fluffy PJs at the other end while the canine in your life flips his walnut-sized brain because he's so painfully excited to see you he can barely contain himself...
BBQ went well even though it was raining literally ALL day. It was propped up under the gargage door canopy so the food stayed dry and the fire kept the menfolks toasty as they guzzled beer and poked sausages around the griddle.
The cousins have unsurprisingly grown a lot in the last 10 years and it alarms me a little that now N is 29 so therefore his older sister is in her 30's already, while the youngest cousin is now 20 and I can still remember him as a 10 year old playing with micromachines in the front yard...
Ah well, they are nice fellas though we have little enough but half-blood in common (same grandmother- different grandfathers) I would quite likely have passed them by unnoticed on the street and at first granny didn't actually recognise either of them... though she got all waterworky when she figured out who it was. Which was nice, it stopped her from complaining that we'd taken over her kitchen or whatever else she would have complained about. (In fact she only complained that we should have told her so she could put on a nicer dress, because she didn't appreciate looking so slovenly for her surprise, but then if we'd told her that then it wouldn't have been a surprise...)
Overall though they haven't changed that much... though J has highlights and N, though still working for Maccy D, has moved up from branch manager to overseeing the investment accounts for the whole of the UK. Not a bad step up, though he still looks like he's consumed a few too many cheeseburgers, but I think that's just a company hazard.
Still my headache has eased at least. Took some asprin earlier and the anti-inflamatory aspect did good things for my unhappy neck.
And now... I shall fling in some laundry, and let the pooch out, and dry my hair, and generally take the last few hours of my weekend and spend them not in the company of my grandparents. Which would be a bad thing to say but I see them daily already, time off is a good thing.
