I have tomorrow off! YESYESYESYESYESYES!

I can sleep late and then go see Charlie and Rachie and Rachie and maybe Bunny! WHEEEEEEEEE!

It's a little bit sad how a random Wednesday not spent running around doing errands from the granny can make me so stupidly perky...

Is Grandad's 90's b'day on Thursday BTW. And he's soon going to be discharged to the local hospital for physio before he's released completely. And if he'd stop breaking hips now it'd be really good...

I have the worst craving for a G&T but it's only 11am and while I know it's always 5 o'clock somewhere it is still a liiiittle early for that kind of thing.

Something downstairs smells like wintergreen only I can't work out what.

I need to make a b'day cake for the grandad.

Cellphoto Challenges: [livejournal.com profile] illmantrim and [livejournal.com profile] bitsycat1 - Dogs of War / Pegasus Ascendant and Sun

Dogs of War Pegasus Ascendant and Sun

A dual photo collection this morning.
On the left, the Dogs of war. A half-poured Gin and Tonic sits dominating the top corner of the image. Alcohol to some the ultimate battleground, the bringer of chaos and havok, sitting atop the guitar tab to Pink Floyd's 'Dogs of War', it is an image both literal and metaphotical in referance to its title.
If the battle is won it stays calm; undrunk, the hounds remain locked for another time, but should the battle be lost...
Pegasus Ascendant, the euphoric rush, sun-yellow lemons and skittering bubbles, the up and the down of consumption. Condensation on a cold glass, the acid bite, the flavour on your tongue, the muddle in your head... Both glorious and damning. So when you stare at the sun too long the brightness burns out your sight, so too do you stay on the pegasus' wing and just burn up completely.

------

For the Gin connoisseurs among you, I know you can only see lemon, but there's a lime wedge the other side of the glass. It's always best with both, you know.

Though I hate to see a G&T go to waste, I think I'll consume it with lunch. It's just the right weather for it too.

...Man I've not had a good G&T since last August.

Come to think of it, the Strongbow I had over the weekend is about the first drink I've had since probably Christmas.
For some reason a nice, cold beverage never seems that appealing in the depths of winter. Can't imagine why... *eyebrow*

STOP FUCKING CALLING ME! I am not my mother. This is not her cellphone. You will not get her by bothering me. Not even if you do so repeatedly. If it's that bloody important, then send a letter. If it's not that important then Fuck. Off.

Some days I really wish my cellphone had a *block/ignore caller* button like all my messengers, e-mail, LJ comments, messageboards... in fact almost all online communication services.
If it already recognises incoming calls via the address book to identify callers, it CAN'T be that hard to give it a function where it recognises people on block and just doesn't ring.

And trust me, I've checked, even in the big, fat instruction manual, and the only options it has is to completely restrict all incoming calls via the main network. Which is somewhat pointless if you ask me.

So till then I keep hitting *busy* or alternately when I get really annoyed, I may reserve my right to stream a torrent of abuse at the hapless bastard at the other end.

Waaah! *wants*

At least it's more affordable than the last one which managed a grand total of no bids at a whopping $99.

Will watch and see how high it goes later in the week I think. Cause I want it, but I am poor at this particular moment. And have to buy birthday thing for grandpaternal unit and you can rest assured that this is probably not high on his list of things he'd appreciate :P~

But then I also want this as a companion to our old '74 edition that's rather falling to bits.

Damn eBay, swallowing my money...

Have made 2 cakes, rather than just one, so it seems... because apparently I am incapable of making just the one when there's eggs and flour and sugar and stuff leftover. *blush*

So yeah, made a plain Viccy sponge with chocolate set on top for the grandpaternal one and his little old men friends on the ward. And then made a choc-chunk cake for Kat which would have had chocolate on top but can't now because I ran out.
I think my choc-chunks sank but *eh* it's chocolate, it's not like anyone's going to care.

Mmm. Cake.

1) Bagels or Donuts?

Either... both... Well, a mediocre bagel will win out over a mediocre donut, but a REEAAALLY good donut will beat out even the freshest of bagels. But then if I've had too many donuts I will kill for a nice, cream-cheesy bagel...
Can't stand crappy donuts though... but can tolerate crappy bagels. And I was sadly disheartened to learn the donuts AND bagels in this country are complete and total shite compared to the ones I had in the US. Your country may have problems, but as long as it keeps making donuts and bagels when I visit, I will be happy.

2) Do you still want to be at your current job in 5 years? If so, why?

Dear God I hope not... can you imagine the insanity of the grandmaternal one by then? Can you? *eeeesh*
Though it's a little unfortunate that I don't know what I want to do instead, I'm hoping something interesting comes up in the meantime.

3) Do you have any gray hair? What if anything do you do about it?

Sadly yes, it started coming out in flecks here and there about a year after my dad died and although it's not spread an awful lot, there's more now than there was.
I have dyed it purple before, just to pass the time, though as it's not especially noticeable on a day-to-day kind of basis I generally leave it alone. I'm hoping it eventually forms like an entertaining white stripe or something... or at least decides to come out enough to make dying it purple a less pre-lightening-intensive hassle.

4) What was your favorite Fairy Tale and why?

Never was a big fan of the old-school, morality-tale versions especially... I know the boy loves the old blood-n-guts gory death ones, but I think I was a sensitive child. The Little Mermaid and The Little Match-girl both used to make me cry, and I still don't quite get the need to have people keep dying in horrible, horrible ways in them.
Will admit to a soft-spot for the Disnefied Version of Beauty and the Beast though.
And I guess growing up so close to Nottingham it's probably fairly obvious that all things Robin Hood were a major factor in my childhood, though I'm not quite sure he counts as a fairy tale.

5) Are you a planner? If so, do you stick to those plans?

I like to make plans... but sticking to them... that's a whoile other kettle of fish.
Actually if you want to get technical I like to make lists, the actual plans are usually rather vague, but lists are good and I suppose it's a form of planning because with a list I can see everything that needs to be done and then arrange them in the most appropriate order.
I don't like plans that involve a lot of waiting around though. I don't like waiting. I'm an impatient person and plans that involve waiting usually involve me re-planning to try and make things go faster...
