So I'm going into the city in a little while. I'm not sure what I'm going to buy this time, beyond like the one comic that won't already be in my box the next time around (I'm not going to magic lab, I'm not going to magic lab, I'm not going to magic lab, I do not have 3 hours to waste talking bollocks with the freaky dave...)

Plus I can't afford to this week, I thingk I want to buy new shoes. My faithful red Cons have finally up and really started to die... still wearable but, you know, could be doing better.

And words cannot describe how much I really want to replace them with these... which I would do if the Converse webstore wasn't such a bastard. (Global economy, my arse, what's the point of a webstore that doesn't deliver OR take payment from outside the US? That's just stupid.)

So today I shall be instead contemplating consoling myself with a replacement pair of red ones. As apparently red, blue and pink are the only colours that seem to have been exported to the UK.

Where's the purple love, baby? I ask you, WHERE??

Bastards.

So I go to Schuh on the hunt for red Converse low-tops. Which I know they had in the window back at the start of February.

I go there, and they only have blue, black and cream. I ask if they have them in red and the manager shuffles off to the back to check the computer...

Some 10 minutes later he shuffles back.

They don't do them in red. They only do Hi-tops in red, not low-tops, but they have black and blue and cream and they can order ones with flames on but they only start from a size 7 because they're mens anyway.
(Strike one for the unisex sneaker, you coulda' fooled me.)
So I depart, disheatened by this development... and proceed to the next store. They only have blue, black and cream. Do they have any red...?
No... they only do the Hi-tops in Red, not the low-tops, and they only start from a size 7 because they're mens anyway. But they could order me ones with flames on.

I don't want ones with flames on...

Next store...

They only have blue, black and cream. Do YOU have any red...?
No... We only do the Hi-tops in Red, not the low-tops, and they only start from a size 7 because they're mens anyway. But we could order you some with flames on.

*whimpers*

And onwards...

They only have blue, black and cream. Do they have any red...?
No... We only do the Hi-tops in Red, not the low-tops, and they only start from a size 7 because they're mens anyway. But we could order you ones with flames on...

*screams and shakes fists at the skies and curses the limited footwear choises of this damn Midland backwater*

So, suitably peeved and depressed by this development, I go and spend the money on the HMV clearout sale instead.

Now, on the way back to the station to shuffle my disheartened way home, I passed by Foot Locker.

I NEVER go in foot locker, because it is ALWAYS packed to bursting with screaming, annoying, 14 year old boys and their corpulent, sweaty parents, with Eminem blaring out the door at a volume so loud it's physically painful.

Except for today. Because I was in the city so early all the 14 year old boys were still at home with their sweaty, corpulent parents, and as a result it was completely empty.

And for some reason they were playing Donny Osmond's Puppy Love on the in-store radio. (O_o???) I'm not sure if this and the emptiness of the store were in any way related.

But regardless, I thought "What the heck?" Footlocker sells trainers, they might sell Cons too... the worst I can hear is that they can order me some with flames on.

So I potter in, really not expecting much... but not only did they have low-tops that weren't blue and black, but they actually had them in red.
50% of the goal right there.
"Have you, maybe, got them in a size 6...?" said I to the surprisingly cute sales guy.
"Yes, we do," he said. "They're unisex so we go all the way down to a size 4."

*insert choral Hallellujah! here, with appropriate divinely golden lighting*

Well colour me speechless, darlings. Except of course I'd already spent most of my cash in the HMV sale, so I had to whip out the credit card and get them on the matnernal one's tab until I can pay her back next week, but yes...

I finally have my replacement low-top red Cons, in a size 6, in my hot little paws, as we speak.

They're still not purple, but they will do for now.

Hm. Bits of me are quite comprehensively... owie.
Not through shopping, I should hasten to add, but I was pushing a bit working out yesterday and some parts have decided to register complaint at the notion.

*pokes the odd limb or two*

Aside from that...

If you've been reading [livejournal.com profile] xbedhead's Erskineville Kings fic "The Kings Road", (and if you've not, SHAME on you!) I have been told I must pimp you towards [livejournal.com profile] razors_edge_fic.

There's not much there now, but apparently there will be, in a kind of Wace-and-Jen related sort of a way.

So you should go add it and wait for things to happen cause you know they're gonna. And you wouldn't want to miss out on that. *pokes you like peer pressure* All the cool kids are doing it...

*looks at [livejournal.com profile] xbedhead* There, I pimped... you happy now...?
