Birthday greetings

Today's random thought: For just a sudden moment earlier, Delia Smith reminded me of the female cookery version of my brother.
I think it was the "I know exactly what I'm talking about you puny mortal" attitude that did it. Just for a second while she was talking about dried beans... I could just see my brother taking that exact tone regarding proper tool usage or something.

Hmm, strange.

On a seperate and less perculiar note, a little Devil Doll told me it was khakigrrl's birthday today.
In honour of that fact I decided she needed stupid birthday wallpaper.
Silly and hastily thrown together, but I hope it raises a smile ;) Happy birthday you.

Gone Postal

Parcels duly posted AT LAST... the woman at the post office thinks I'm insane now y'know... She's never there when I post boring normal things to the USA, she's only ever there when I post really weird crap.
She thought I was strange when I posted a pillowcase. She thought I was really weird when I posted smoky bacon flavour crisps. She thought I was pretty damned cracked sending a mechanical hamster in a perspex ball... but I think today was like the metaphorical straw that broke the camel's back, elevating me from weird to downright loony.
"What's in it?" says she, getting out the cutoms lable.
"It's an [***]," says I, "Thought you might just want to put that down as 'ornament'..."
She looked at me for a long time, then finally slightly nodded.
"Yes..." she said eventually. "I think that might be for the best."

I'll have to work hard to find equally strange gifts to send people in future, just cause I like that bemused look on her face every time I walk up to the counter bearing boxes.

Uploaded my new Hughmoods though I've not got around to coding them yet... so sue me, I'm lazy.
Also found an icon I made a while back and never used so I thought I'd fling it into the roatation.


AAGH! 80's weekend on VH1 once more... I just turned on the TV and there's Rick Astley again. I tell you, his essence is haunting my TV. That and the fact that he looks like Christian the ginger freak I went to college with never fails to disturb me. Someone make it go away...?

Wow, look at that, I did MORE stuff. I think I'm ill or something...
Updated my mood theme all by my lonesome. (Waves to Dekie! Look, I did it myself this time around!) Not that it's really that much different from the old one but I changed a few pictures and drastically reduced all the file sizes. So yeah, it's all good.

Dekie, in case you want it I'm e-mailing you the list of new URLs. I've not deleted the old ones yet though so you still have until the other half of the ranchoweb account expires to update them. ^_^


And now after sitting here so long I cannot feel my bottom any more. I'd better walk around and get some circulation back into my lower half I think.

*slaps wrists* Stop with the random downloading already!
I don't often go trawling for pics any more, mostly because I find it's a losing battle trying to remember what in hell I already have, but I succumbed this evening mostly because I had nothing better to do. I think I've ended up downloading the bext end of 50-odd images that I'm preeeeetty sure I don't already have but might potentially be dupliactes that I'd forgotten about.
I know I've seen most of them, I'd just not downloaded them before for various reasons.

I'm going to have to re-file a bunch of things though, for sure now. And make Deb and Oscar their own folder cause they're lost in among all the random Hugh.

Couple of things though... just stuff that's bugging me.
Don't edit images just to make your website look *prettier*... like inserting black fuzzy boarders around all the images so they look like they're merging with the background. Don't do it. It's annoying.
Secondly, if your website is on geocities, don't make me download page after page of full-sized images just so I can see if I have them or not. It sucks up your allocated bandwidth, I get booted off the site before I'm done looking, if I wasn't on a broadband connection it would take forever to load and there's a REASON thumbnails were invented. Please use them.
Lastly, Why did Anna Paquin always look so permanently pissed off?
Anyone would think she didn't like the company of her co-stars. ~_^

Ahh, for the good old days, when people believed in simple web design cause a 24k modem was the very height of speed...
