Tales of a meandering duckie-butt
Sep. 2nd, 2002 05:54 pmWow, been a long day...
Up by 8, in Leicester by 9:30, back in Loughborough by 1, at Rachie's house for an hour or so, saw a movie at 3 and then home in time for dinner...
Nicely timed, I'd say.
And yes, now I am knackered.
And skint.
I was rooting through the backissues at Magic Lab and stumbled across a random X-Babies comic while I was there. I squeeeeealed... ^__^
Couldn't resist, cause they're so darned cute. I also picked up Wolvie 180 and Rachie got her fix of *Insert random Manga title here*
Spent quite a while just wandering aimlessly round the city today. Neither of us really had any money and she was technically supposed to be at a seminar the job center were sending her on.
We found the place no problem, it's on the same street as Magic Lab, but it was actually a totally different street to the one she was originally told it was on.
She decided not to go and is gonna' claim that she couldn't find it cause they directed her wrong... which is technically the truth, and if she'd gone on her own she really never would have found it ^^;
So we shopped instead, which was nice.
You could tell that term had started again though. The streets were so empty... even McD was devoid of people... at lunchtime!
*insert shocked gasps*
Hell, we even got a table, which is just utterly unheard of. The McD in the Shires is usually so full you can barely get in the door.
So, we pottered back home, wondering what the hell to do with ourselves for the rest of the day, and randomly bumped into Charlie and her mum and sister who were on their way to the train station to drop off Rachel (That's Rachel, not Rachael [Rachie B] and yes that does get confusing).
She whinged a little cause she had to work while we decided to find a random movie for the afternoon. BUWAHAHAHAHA!
Ended up lurking at Rachie's for the hour we had before the film started cause she only lives 10 minutes away form the centre of town.
It was a toss up between The Sweetest Thing and Goldmember, and because I'd already seen Goldmember, we ended up screaming "Chick flick ahoy!" and hoping we had the screen to ourselves so we could throw popcorn at Cameron Diaz like we did at Ashley Judd all through Someone Like You.
We thought we were going to as well, but a whole crapload of people turned up just as the trailers were starting, so we had to sit still and watch it like regualar people instead.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It actually had some properply funny moments, which makes a nice change for a chick flick.
Can't say a whole lot about it really, other than rent it if you've got nothing better to do. It's not brain food but it will kill a couple of hours in a genial enough way. Parts of it (Especially the musical numbers) really are funny and you can't honestly ask for more than that.
Oh, and the credits have out-takes, which is always a bonus. ^__^
Rachie's been on at me to see 10 things I hate about you, so she thrust her copy into my sweaty little paws and told me to take it home... so I have.
That should fill up my evening while I read through all these bits of paper that Julian bloke gave me the other day.
Oh, and I bumped into an old friend of mine from school while waiting for the bus.
I've not seen her since... like year 7 I think. That's, what...? 8 years ago? Man, some people really never do change.
She's studying Eng Lit at Durham, starting her second year this autumn.
I said I was jobhunting to fund my need to travel more. She looked at me like I'd lost my brain somewhere between secondary school and Uni, and maybe she's right, but frankly, I'd rather be doing this than slogging my guts out over a subject I don't actually care about.
It was one of those scary "That could have been me" moments, cause we were pretty evenly matched through school.
Literally, almost totally identical, except she had neater handwriting... And there she is, commenting how boring her course is and I'm just looking at her and thinking... God I'm glad I'm not doing that... not yet anyway.
One day I will, but not right now.
Travel while you're young, that's what I say. Otherwise you'll end up waiting till you're retired and just think of all the good memories you could have been enjoying while you were stuck at home with the kids... ^__^
So that's that... I have a dent in my bank balance, new comics, an old comic, a video that's not mine and I also have pie leftover from yesterday.
What more could a girl want?
*scoffs pie*
Oh, and I have my induction at Safeways at 9 tomorrow morning. I'm really hoping I get nights.
I dyed the streaks dark purple again, though it's veering wildly between PURPLE! and dark blue, depending on how much of the pink was still clinging to my hair.
It looks much less noticeable though, and if they ask I'll just say that's as dark as I can get them till they grow out... which is almost true ~_^
Not exaclty... but almost...
Eh, too much effort to think about it. I need more pie.
