I lives!

IT LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVES!

*does the happy dance of a woman with internet access once more*

We found out what went wrong anyway. The power cut hit JUST as it was doing automatic routine maintenance. It was shifting files just as it shut down so it was left with a bunch of dangling information and no place to go...

It was a server with a problem... It had an FSCK... type... thing... *looks lost*

I just know it involved "fesking" it by hand and many dubious, unsalubrious comments ~_^

It is, however, working again now, and I am an LT with a big, stupid grin on my face :p

Went to the pub last night with JR's sister Libby.
Just the 2 of us cause she was glad to escape both her dad and JR for a few hours.
They came down for a visit yesterday, though I forgot to mention that in the generalised chaos. They left about an hour ago so this is the first chance I've had all day to get online anyway.
So yeah, we escaped down the pub after she "hinted" that she needed a cahperone, nudge nudge, wink, wink, I'm looking at you m'dear...
This happens a lot. She likes to drink, I like to drink, she has more money than sense, I'm usually broke, it works out well for everyone involved.
We had many a good and unusual chat over quite an alarming amount of Blackthorn and vodka...
I like her a lot, we have a surprising amount in common for a 19yr old single chick and a 32yr old mother of 2, but no one ever said you had to stay stuck with your peer group.

So, I'm off now... gotta' get into town. Stuff to do and a fair old amount of mail to deal with for just 48 hours of being offline...

Eh, the film was OK... not as good at the first one though diverting enough for a wet Thursday.
It has some good points, (The civilisations inhabiting lockers being one of my favourites, and of course, the dog...) but likewise there didn't seem to be quite... ENOUGH to fill out the full screen time.
The first MIB was a big vicarious learning curve, and most of the entertainment came from getting to see all the unusual ways that aliens infiltrate everyday life. That was lacking from this one because we all already knew it, and dredging up a neuralized Tommy Lee Jones (While entertaining just seeing the man in shorts) didn't have quite the same effect, purely because he got his memory back so smoothly.
One second he's got nothing, then he stares up and the sky and blam, the denuralizer does its delayed-reaction thing, just like that...
It was somewhat lacking in any dramatic or emotional impact, though the part where K remembers the meeting between himself and the princess was really rather sweet.
(Yes, I am a sap... a hint of teary-ness and I'm gone)
The movie as a whole seemed slightly confused as to whether it wanted to be funny or touching or both and ended up missing the mark whichever way it went. Some parts really were quite entertaining, but there weren't enough of them. As a whole it seemed a lot shorter than the first movie and generally less impressive.
I remember coming out of MIB and thinking it was one of the coolest damn things in ages. This one was more... eh, it's kinda' fun...
I remember J being more of a hyperactive smartass in the original, too...
Maybe playing Ali mellowed him out.

Just got done speaking to KAT, hearing the sorry tale of her driving lesson troubles.
It brings to mind a few things I'm rather grateful for...
1) I had a driving instructor I liked and got on with and, most importantly, trusted.
2) I'm very glad dual control cars here only have break and clutch on the instructor's side. Having your instructor randomly make you accelerate is NOT a pleasant thing to have happen to you.
3) Learning to drive in Canada is expensive. Mine were £16 an hour... that's almost half what KAT has to pay.
4) I had nothing to loose if I failed my test... expect for an £11 booking fee and a couple of hours one afternoon. Having your foreign licence and therefore one of your jobs on the line is a big ole scoop of stress that doesn't need to be added into the equasion.
5) Our roads are a whole heckuva lot easier to understand because we drive on the correct side of them... XD

*dodges large objects being thrown at her by all those freaks who drive on the right*

From today's idle wanderings I found quite an entertaining little Movie Spoof of Swordfish.
It'd be more entertaining if I didn't have a net connection that was slower than... well, a really slow thing. It kind of ruins the flow having to refresh parts of it because they're not loading properly.

Rachie just got herself Yahoo messenger... been chatting to her for about an hour and she only NOW thinks to comment that her grandparents didn't have any food in the house and she's not eaten all day... -_-;
I'm like... dude, I already told you a hundred times, you can always come back with me... I only saw you 4 hours ago, why the hell didn't you mention something? We have more food here than we know what to do with... we're a vacuum for people who need feeding, it's mother's reason for living...
Reminded her that there's a standing, open invitation anyway, she should just invite herself like everyone else does. There are 4 people in our house. We very rarely ever feed 4 people... 5-6-7 and 8 kind of turn up now and then in varying quantities, sometimes bringing 9 and 10 with them...
Hell, Richard even had a copy of our door keys so he could let himself in if we were out cause he used to spend so much time round here, I think we can cope with an extra mouth now and then...
It's against my beliefs to let people NOT eat ;-)

*Does her impression of the woman from Goodness Gracious Me* Eeeeeeeeat... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT...!
